Gwen’s Art

My photo-botanical series, combines my love of nature with my passion for music. I’ve always been fascinated by the organic patterns we see in nature and I find myself perceiving plants as a form of visual music. I use black and white photography to establish a rhythm, and color to create a “melody” and mood. I shot many of these tropical plants throughout California, but also as far away as Italy and Japan. Using Lightroom and Photoshop, I’ve orchestrated my favorites into panels that can be mixed and matched. These panels come in two sizes–Petite: 34″ x 8.5″ and Banner: 60″ x 15″. The colors and contrast are brilliant and dramatic in either the classically elegant treatment–photographic prints that are matted and framed, gallery-style OR in the very-modern and sophisticated treatment–high-resolution, float-mounted prints on aluminum panels. These metal prints are so durable, with a UV-protective coating, that they can be hung outside as well as in.

My painterly series, includes the fine-art metal prints of my original acrylic and my mixed-media abstracts. These paintings were each created to express a powerful experience I’ve had. There’s a story, which I’m happy to share, about each one—ask me. These pieces come in various sizes, and shapes–Square, Rectangle, and Banner. Their high-gloss look is unique, and joyous—seriously cool-looking.  And because aluminum is weather-resistant, these pieces can be displayed outdoors as well as indoors!
